Pakistan’s left-arm spinner, Noman Ali, has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October 2024, following a remarkable Test series performance that led Pakistan to a thrilling 2-1 ICC World Test Championship series victory over England. Noman’s outstanding bowling displays saw him claim 20 wickets across the series at an average of 13.85, propelling him past strong contenders Kagiso Rabada of South Africa and Mitchell Santner of New Zealand for the award. This accolade makes Noman the first Pakistani male cricketer to win the award since Babar Azam in August 2023.

Dominating the Series: Key Moments in Noman’s Performance
Noman credited his teammates for their support throughout the challenging series, expressing his pride in contributing to a memorable home victory. “I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month and deeply grateful to all my teammates who helped me put my best performances forward to help Pakistan win a historic home Test series against England,” Noman said.

Over two decisive Test matches in October, Noman delivered game-changing spells. In the second Test, he achieved his career-best figures of 8/46 as Pakistan defended a 297-run target, clinching their first Test win at home since 2021. Noman’s impact continued in the final Test in Rawalpindi. Walking in at No.9 with Pakistan struggling at 177/7, he contributed a valuable 45-run knock, setting up a crucial 77-run lead in the first innings. He then sealed the series with a six-wicket haul, dismissing England for a mere 112 and securing a nine-wicket victory for Pakistan.

Noman’s brilliant all-round performance not only ended Pakistan’s three-year drought for a home Test series win but also earned him international recognition, cementing his status as one of Pakistan’s key Test players.
