World Cup-winning fast bowler Munaf Patel has been appointed as the bowling coach for the Delhi Capitals, the franchise announced on Tuesday (November 12). Munaf joins a support team led by Venugopal Rao, Director of Cricket, and Hemang Badani, the newly appointed head coach.

This coaching revamp follows the departure of Ricky Ponting, Delhi Capitals’ long-time head coach, earlier this year. With Rao and Badani now leading the coaching team, they were tasked with assembling the remainder of the support staff.

Munaf steps into the role previously held by James Hopes. A seasoned cricketer, Munaf represented India across all formats and played 63 IPL matches with teams like the Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Lions, claiming 74 wickets at an economy rate of 7.51. His last IPL appearance was in 2017.
