Kauthankar and Bakle Set Ranji Trophy Record with Triple Centuries, 600-Run Stand

In an extraordinary display of batting, Goa’s Snehal Kauthankar and Kashyap Bakle both scored triple centuries in a record-breaking Ranji Trophy 2024-25 plate group match against Arunachal Pradesh in Porvorim. Their colossal 606-run stand became the highest partnership in Ranji Trophy history, surpassing all previous records. Kauthankar also made headlines by scoring the second-fastest triple century by an Indian, reaching the milestone in just 205 balls, while Bakle’s came off 269 balls.
Their partnership powered Goa to a massive 727/2 before they declared the innings. This historic feat came after Goa’s bowlers, led by Arjun Tendulkar, dismissed Arunachal Pradesh for a paltry 84 in their first innings.
Kauthankar’s triple ton places him third on the all-time list of fastest triple centuries in First-Class cricket, behind South Africa’s Marco Marais and India’s Mayank Agarwal. His 191-ball triple ton for Border against Eastern Province in 2017-18 remains the fastest.
Remarkably, this is only the second time in First-Class history that two triple centuries have been scored in the same innings. The first was in 1988-89 when Tamil Nadu’s WV Raman and Arjan Kripal Singh scored 313 and 302*, respectively, against Goa.
This record-breaking partnership eclipses previous highest partnerships in Ranji history:

594* – Swapnil Sugale and Ankeet Bawane | Maharashtra v Delhi, 2016-17 |
577 – Vijay Hazare and Gul Mohammad | Baroda v Holkar, 1946-47 |
