Jasprit Bumrah Equals Ashwin’s Record with 904 Rating Points, Consolidates ICC Test Rankings Lead

Jasprit Bumrah Matches R Ashwin’s Record in ICC Test Rankings
Jasprit Bumrah, the spearhead of India’s bowling attack, has achieved a historic milestone in the ICC Test rankings. Following his exceptional performance in the third Test against Australia in Brisbane, where he bagged 9 wickets for 94 runs, Bumrah has attained 904 rating points—the joint-highest ever for an Indian bowler.
This remarkable achievement puts him in an elite league, equaling the record previously held by R Ashwin, who reached the same tally after the fourth Test against England in Mumbai in December 2016.
Bumrah, who already leads the ICC Test Bowler Rankings, extended his dominance by adding 14 points to his tally, taking a 48-point lead over second-placed Kagiso Rabada (856). His stellar performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has seen him claim 21 wickets in six innings at an astonishing average of 10.90.
The series, currently tied 1-1, moves to Melbourne for the Boxing Day Test, where Bumrah has a chance to surpass Ashwin’s record. With the stakes high, all eyes will be on India’s ace pacer as he continues to deliver exceptional performances.
Other Highlights from ICC Rankings
While Bumrah shines in the Test arena, there’s been notable movement in the player rankings across formats. Travis Head’s back-to-back centuries, including a stellar 152 in Brisbane, have propelled him to fourth in the Test batting charts, overtaking Yashasvi Jaiswal. Joe Root continues to lead the Test batting rankings.
Meanwhile, in ODIs, Heinrich Klaasen’s consistent performances against Pakistan have earned him a significant jump from 13th to 5th on the batting charts. Pakistan’s Saim Ayub also made headlines, climbing 57 spots to a career-best 23rd after a breakthrough series against South Africa.
Babar Azam retains his position as the No.1 ODI batter, followed by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in second and third, respectively.
With such dynamic shifts in the rankings, cricket fans have plenty to look forward to as the international cricketing calendar unfolds.
