West Indies allrounder Jason Holder has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match home Test series against Bangladesh as he continues his rehabilitation for a shoulder injury. Holder’s absence marks a significant loss for the West Indies, as the experienced allrounder remains a key figure in their Test setup.

Offspinner Kevin Sinclair returns to the squad after missing the previous series against South Africa due to injury. Sinclair’s inclusion adds depth to the spin department, alongside Jomel Warrican.

Fast bowler Anderson Phillip also makes a comeback, having last played a Test in December 2022 during the tour of Australia. Phillip has been in impressive form, recently taking wickets for Trinidad & Tobago in the domestic 50-over competition and ending his county stint with Lancashire on a high note, claiming nine wickets in a match against Worcestershire in late September.

Alzarri Joseph, who missed the South Africa Tests due to workload concerns, also returns to the Test squad. Joseph, currently featuring in the T20I series against England, has been a pivotal figure in West Indies cricket across formats. Despite his comeback, Joshua Da Silva will continue as Kraigg Brathwaite’s deputy, a role he assumed during Joseph’s absence in the South Africa series.

Meanwhile, the selectors have dropped spinners Gudakesh Motie and Bryan Charles. Motie, who is part of the white-ball squad facing England, was left out following a modest showing against South Africa, where he managed only three wickets across two Tests. Charles, uncapped during the South Africa series, also makes way for the returning players.

The two-match series begins on November 22 in Antigua, followed by the second Test in Jamaica starting November 30. Before the Tests, Kraigg Brathwaite will captain a CWI Select XI in a two-day warm-up match against Bangladesh on November 17 and 18 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
