Champions Trophy Tour Begins in Pakistan Amid Venue Uncertainty and India’s Travel Stance

Despite the lack of a confirmed schedule for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the tournament trophy arrived in Pakistan on Thursday for a countrywide tour starting November 16. According to a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official, the tour will commence from Skardu in northern Pakistan and will cover key cities expected to host Champions Trophy matches.
The ICC sent the trophy to Pakistan while seeking a response from the PCB regarding a hybrid hosting model, following India’s refusal to play in Pakistan due to political tensions. Originally scheduled for unveiling in Lahore, the event was delayed as the ICC awaited India’s response and because of smog in the city. However, on Thursday, ICC officials brought the trophy to Islamabad from Dubai, with the tour slated to conclude on November 24.
This tour aims to build excitement for the tournament, set for February 19 to March 9 next year, but the absence of a confirmed schedule and India’s unresolved participation have sparked debate. Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan commented on the situation, questioning the purpose of the trophy tour given the venue and schedule uncertainties, especially regarding a potential Pakistan-India clash, which remains in doubt.
While the ICC has not made an official statement on India’s refusal to travel, cricket fans in Pakistan and globally are awaiting clarity on the schedule and final arrangements for the highly anticipated tournament.
