Arjun Tendulkar Claims First-Ever Five-Wicket Haul in Ranji Trophy Match

Arjun Tendulkar, playing for Goa, achieved his first five-wicket haul in first-class cricket on Wednesday in a Ranji Trophy Plate Division match against Arunachal Pradesh at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim. The 25-year-old left-arm pacer, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, delivered an impressive spell, taking 5 wickets for just 25 runs in 9 overs, including three maidens. This milestone came in his 17th first-class appearance.
After Arunachal Pradesh chose to bat, Arjun made an early impact by bowling opener Nabam Hachang in the second over. Despite a short-lived stand from Neelam Obi (22) and Chinmay Patil (3), Arjun’s double strike in the 12th over left the visitors in disarray. He completed his five-wicket feat by reducing Arunachal to 36/5 in 17.1 overs. While captain Nabam Abo fought back with an unbeaten 25 off 25 balls, Arunachal was bowled out for a mere 84 runs in 31 overs.
Goa’s bowlers Mohit Redkar (3/15) and Keith Mark Pinto (2/31) supported Arjun’s efforts, wrapping up the innings swiftly. Prior to this match, Arjun had 32 wickets in 16 first-class games, with a previous best of 4/49. A promising all-rounder, he has also scored 532 runs with an average of 23.13, including a century and two half-centuries.
