    • His innings of 37 runs from 78 balls, featuring three fours and one six, played a vital role in India’s total of 150 runs in the first innings.

  • Pant partnered with Nitish Kumar Reddy, the 21-year-old debutant from Andhra, for a crucial 48-run stand for the seventh wicket.
  • Reddy top-scored with 41 runs from 59 balls in his maiden Test innings before being dismissed as the last Indian wicket on Day 1.

Pant’s Remarkable Journey

Making his Test debut in 2018, Pant has established himself as a key player for India in the longest format. After an 18-month hiatus, Pant made a stunning comeback to the Test side in September 2024. Known for his aggressive batting and sharp wicketkeeping skills, Pant continues to be a pivotal force in India’s Test squad.

The ongoing series against Australia provides Pant with an opportunity to surpass 100 catches in the WTC and further cement his legacy as one of India’s finest wicketkeepers.
