Anshul Kamboj Enters Record Books with Historic 10-Wicket Haul in Ranji Trophy

Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj made history on Friday by becoming only the third bowler to claim all 10 wickets in an innings in the Ranji Trophy. The 23-year-old achieved the remarkable feat against Kerala in a Group C match at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium near Rohtak, recording stunning figures of 10/49 in 30.1 overs. Kamboj, who played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2024 but was not retained as an uncapped player, joins an elite group in Indian domestic cricket.


A Rare Feat in Indian Cricket

Kamboj’s accomplishment places him alongside Premangshu Chatterjee of Bengal (10/20 vs Assam, 1956) and Pradeep Sundaram of Rajasthan (10/78 vs Vidarbha, 1985), the only other bowlers to take 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy innings. Additionally, he becomes the sixth Indian bowler to achieve a 10-wicket haul in First-Class cricket, joining legends like Anil Kumble, Subhash Gupte, and Debashish Mohanty.

Kamboj entered the third day’s play with eight wickets and quickly wrapped up Kerala’s innings by dismissing Basil Thampi and Shoun Roger, reducing them to 291 all out in their first innings. His incredible performance also pushed him past 50 First-Class wickets in just 19 matches.


A Stellar Domestic Season

After a successful 2024 IPL season with MI, Kamboj represented India A in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup in Oman, impressing with 17 wickets in 10 matches. He also played a pivotal role in Haryana’s first Vijay Hazare Trophy title, emerging as one of the tournament’s leading wicket-takers.

This season, he became only the third pacer to claim an eight-wicket haul in the Duleep Trophy, following in the footsteps of Mohanty (10/46) and Ashok Dinda (8/123). To date, Kamboj has taken 23 wickets in 15 List-A matches.
